Miami Museums and Attractions

As the “Gateway to the Americas,” Miami, Florida is a world class city with some of the largest museums in the state. The Miami Metrozoo has won a number of awards for the successful breeding of rare and endangered animal species, such as the Komodo dragon, Cuban crocodiles and the Matschie’s tree kangaroos. The Miami Seaquarium, the shooting location of the original 1960s television series “Flipper,” recently opened a dolphin interaction program at Dolphin Harbor, where guests can swim with the dolphins.

In the near future, the City of Miami will boast an expansive cultural area with a waterfront Museum Park. The City of Miami recently passed a resolution to provide four acres of downtown's Bicentennial Park to build a new location for the Miami Science Museum, which is being constructed in conjunction with the new Miami Art Museum, and in partnership with the Historical Museum of Southern Florida. Upon completion, Museum Park will combine science, art and history in a single location in downtown Miami.
